Mercer Island Turn-of-the-Century Cottage

What do you do when you now live in the home your family has owned since you were a child? You remodel of course! This couple came to us wanting not just an update to the finishes, and storage solutions in both bathrooms and the Kitchen, and a more functional Laundry/Mudroom.

The design centered around the Kitchen and not only gave the room a beautiful refresh but also eliminated the existing pantry closet in favor of built-in cabinetry. This allowed them to maximize storage; giving more room to allow for an additional workspace or serving area.

The main floor bathroom features a custom divide made to match the vanity door style. Custom leaded glass in the divide acts as a privacy panel and the leaded glass matches some of the original details in the home to tie the design of the “old and new” together.

Strategic use of charming awning-style windows served to maintain the cottage styling of this hundred and ten-year-old home.
